Use reverse colors for Error highlight group.
...
Often (e.g. for Python) Error is used to indicate
whitespace mistakes (e.g. too much whitespace).
Since in Solarized 8 Error does not have any
background colour, these errors are not visible
(@fladd).

Add "flat" value to g:solarized_statusline.
...
This sets a "flat" status line, vert bar and tab bar in all variants.
It does not have any effect for solarized8_flat, because "normal" and
"flat" are effectively the same in that case.

Make VertSplit separator always visible.

The separator makes it clear how a window has been split, which is
useful, for example, when you rotate windows (<c-w><c-r>). The separator
may be suppressed by the user with 'fillchars'.

Add colorization for spelling errors when visibility is high.

Set:
let g:solarized_visibility="high"
in your vimrc. Then, spelling mistakes are marked with reversed colors.
